The Relevance (Why the course is being taught)

The aim of the CPL (A) course is to train pilots to the level of proficiency necessary to operate a single-pilot single-engine aircraft in commercial air transportation and to obtain the CPL (A).

At the completion of the course, the student will be eligible for issue of a Commercial Pilot License under the Civil Aviation (Personnel Licensing) Regulations, 2022, as amended.

The flight training shall comprise a total of at least 105 hours. Within the total of 105 hours, applicants shall complete at least:

Course Details

The course shall comprise

  • Theoretical training: To instruct the students in a pure theoretical principle.
  • Practical flight training: To instruct the student in the execution of the theoretical and practical principle.

Theoretical Training

The theoretical training is conducted from Monday to Friday, 08:30am to 01:00pm.

The course will comprise eight (8) theoretical subjects, 250 hours of instruction (1 hour = 60 minutes instruction), which includes formal classroom work, progress tests, and sample exams. The eight (8) subjects are analyzed as follows:

Course Entry Requirements

Pre-entry Requirements

An applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Hold a PPL(A) with a valid Class 1 medical certificate from an approved medical doctor. Have sufficient knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, and English to facilitate in the understanding of the theoretical knowledge instruction content of the course. The applicant shall demonstrate knowledge on the above subjects to the Head of Training, by writing a pre-entry knowledge test.

Enrollment

Upon enrollment, an applicant will fill out an official application form and shall have with them the following:

  • Four (4) passport photographs.
  • PPL (A) with valid Class 1 Medical certificate.
  • A logbook endorsement from authorized instructor.
  • Validated photocopy of high School certificate or equivalent diploma.
  • His or her flight Logbook.
  • Validated photocopy of ID or passport.
  • A deposit of at least 40% of the total tuition fees for the course.
  • Copy of Birth Certificate.
