The Relevance (Why the course is being taught)

The goal of the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) program is to prepare a Top quality medical laboratory professional who will competently meet the healthcare diagnostics and research needs of the community in all settings. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES
 After successful completion of the program, the graduate shall be expected to: 

  • Manage and co-ordinate activities in Biomedical sciences, service and research laboratories effectively and efficiently.
  • Design and implement science-based research employing appropriate and optimised technology.
  • Collect, manage, analyse, interpret and report laboratory data efficiently during
  • Investigations in the laboratory or in the field.
  • Design and manage quality assurance and quality control schemes to achieve better
  • Efficiency and results in their industrial, research, clinical and educational settings 

TEACHING METHODS

  • Student - centred learning, to promote full use of individual abilities.
  • Problem - based learning using small group tutorials to develop critical thinking skills.
  • Lectures to provide guidance in scope and depth so as to broaden learner understanding.
  • Large group discussions between learners and lecturers to facilitate exchange of ideas.
  • Seminars and grand rounds to address multi-disciplinary issues as well as case studies.
  • Laboratory and practical exercises in various settings to cultivate practical skills.
