The Relevance (Why the course is being taught)

The expansion of International trade and the development of different modes of transport over the years that followed have continued to expand the scope of freight forwarding services. The services that a freight forwarder renders may often range from routine and basic tasks such as the booking, customs clearance to a comprehensive package of services covering the total transportation, distribution process, inventory management, supply chain management and provision of a wide range of value added logistics services such as assembling, packing and removal.

Programme Objectives

The program is intended to enable a learner demonstrate:-

a) Knowledge and critical understanding of the well established principles of freight forwarders and the ways in which those principles have developed.

b) Ability to apply underlying concepts and principles outside the context in which they were first studied, including, where appropriate, the application of those principles in an employment context.

c) Knowledge of the main methods of enquiry in the subject(s) relevant to named award and ability to evaluate critically the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems in the field of customs clearing and forwarding.

d) An understanding of the limits of their knowledge and how this influences analyses and interpretations based on that knowledge of freight forwarding.

e) And use a range of established techniques to initiate and understand critical analysis of information and to propose solutions to problems arising from that analysis and effectively communicate information, arguments and analysis in a variety of forms to specialists and non specialist audiences and develop key techniques of the description effectively.

Admission Criteria

Applicants must have attained Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) with at least one principle pass and two subsidiary passes or its equivalent from an Institution recognized by National Council for Higher Education.
