The Relevance (Why the course is being taught)

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSc. IT) of Uganda Christian University offers unique approach to Technology training in view of the current challenges in the Information Technology industry when compared to the traditional computing programmes. The BSc.IT programme combines the key strengths of the traditional Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Bachelor of Information Technology.
The recent emergence of global business, new technologies for data processing and data communication environment seek for graduates who focus on professional careers in IT.

The BSc IT programme has been developed to provide the students with adequate theoretical and practical knowledge which will enable them to effectively participate in solving the complex problem of the IT industry. UCU's IT programme equips students with the knowledge and skills required to contribute to the vital area of Information Technology.

The knowledge and skills gained by BSc IT graduates include web-based information systems as well as relevant applied research to develop and/or maintain appropriate and sustainable technical solutions to IT problems in variety of fields including: Telecommunication, Banking, Education, Governance, Medical, Engineering and Technology, etc. Therefore our graduates have competitive advantage to work with national and International organisations in wide-ranging fields.

A typical BIT programme normally provides training in application of information technology. The UCU BSIT programme additionally provides a theoretical and methodological understanding of information technology and has a research component and industrial placement.

Course Entry Requirements

Ugandan applicants: Applicants should hold at least
(a) UACE certificate with at least 2 principal passes (one in a science subject or economics or Geography) at the same sitting;
AND UCE certificate with at least a credit in MathematicsOR
(b) Diploma from a recognized institution of higher learning in any field or its equivalenceOR
(c) A Pass in Mature Age Examination

International applicants: Applicants must have qualifications that are equivalent to two A-level principal passes.
