1. Regardless of your academic performance, it is very important that you seek professional career guidance before going to university or any higher education institution of your choice. This will help you avoid potential future career frustrations.

2. If you have only subsidiaries in principal subjects, you don't have to repeat S.6. You can do the remedial/ bridging Higher Education Certificate (HEC) for 1 year within the university or any other accredited Higher Education Institution and proceed to the course of your choice. HEC is recognized by the National Council of Higher Education. (I have attached a link on this below). Those who didn't get the Subsidiaries needed can still do mature Age entry if they are 22 years and above and go to University.

3. Parents, guardians and caretakers resist the urge to force your child/children to do courses they don't want to do. Listen to them and give them career guidance. If you are not able to guide them, find someone professional in their desired field who can help them discover which course best plays to their strengths.

We have so many young people in tertiary institutions doing courses they have no interest in but because they were forced by their parents/guardians. And they are blaming parents and guardians for not giving them proper career guidance. Parents should listen and guide but not force their children to do courses they have no interest in.

The workplace has changed and continues to change very rapidly, there is a need for young people to be more passionate, strategic and intentional as they gather the necessary knowledge and skills that will help them when they join the workplace in the near future. The future of work will be driven by passion

4. Parents and Guardians, no matter how disappointed you might be with your child's results, please do not throw it in their faces. Just find out what other course options are available or better still what pathways can be taken to still reach the same goal. All you need is information that is available. There are so many options and opportunities out there that they can go for and still achieve their dream, all you have to do is search.

5. Higher Education Financing can be very expensive for some of our parents. Please get information on existing bursaries and scholarships in the different Universities and also find out about the existing government education loans that you can take advantage of. The young people don't have to sit at home.

6. Parents, it is very okay to take your child to vocational institutions. Please have it as an option. Your child will come out experienced, knowledgeable and skilled and can still proceed to the University in the near future. So go ahead and consider taking your child to a vocational institution if you have to. Seek proper career guidance on this.

7. Parents, please find time to talk to your child about their performance and find out how they actually feel. Don't assume they are okay with the results they have gotten. Congratulate them and encourage them. If you have a story they can relate with, please share it with them to inspire them.

8. Students, please do not impersonate, change or forge your results just so you can join a specific university or get a course of your choice at the University. This is criminal and yet not necessary at all. There are so many young people and even some old people moving around with fake and impersonated academic documents. This is not necessary. Your genuine results can get you to your future career. Just seek for information and professional guidance. Why forge what you can achieve?

I wish you all the very best during your transition to Higher Education.
