Monitor Publications Limited (MPL) will on October 30 hold this year’s career fair that will see employers and successful entrepreneurs interface with prospective job seekers and entrepreneurs.
The event will be held at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) under the theme, “The youthful entrepreneur; innovate or die”.
“Daily Monitor in conjunction with KFM is reaching out to its readers and listeners, especially the entrepreneurs. Through the career fair, we are creating a platform for budding entrepreneurs to meet with successful entrepreneurs and for those looking for employment to meet with employers,” said Mr Moses Ssesanga, the MPL Head of Human Resources.
The company seeks to equip students with entrepreneur skills with the hope of curbing unemployment levels that stands at 64 per cent, according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics report, 2012.
“The youth will also have a chance to win internship opportunities and network with employers as we are in partnership with reputable organisations. We will recognise students who are already entrepreneurs,” said Ms Esther Wamweta, the MPL’s Learning and Development Specialist, who is the event coordinator.
This is the second career fair after last year’s which was held at Kyambogo University. Under the theme, “University and Beyond: Tackling the challenges of unemployment”, the event attracted scores of students from different universities around the country.
