The Relevance (Why the course is being taught)
The Bachelor of Child Development and Children’s Ministry (BCDCM) programme was established in 2006 in response to the training needs identified by leading child development agencies, churches, and other practitioners. The objective was to promote professionalism in child care and development. This programme has been designed for those who have an interest in working with children and young people to give them an opportunity to play a key role in raising a new generation. This programme offers insight for all who seek to answer the Lord’s longing: “Let the children come to me” (Matthew 19:14).
This course emphasizes four key components in children’s work:
1) Child development
2) Children at risk
3) Church and community-based ministry to children
4) Programme management skills
This programme is uniquely inter-disciplinary, involving development, counseling, health sciences, and law. Our children’s ministry bachelor’s degree course cuts to the heart of the challenges facing children today. It will help you to examine human growth and development theories, exploring how children learn, live and how you can share with them the gospel of Jesus Christ. You will acquire skills how to address the challenges faced by children at risk and the knowledge and skills required in the areas of leadership and management of projects.
