The Relevance (Why the course is being taught)

Midwifery includes the care of a woman and her child through all stages of pregnancy, labour, delivery, puerperium, postpartum, and the first five weeks of the child's life. Midwives prevent problems during this time and detect and manage abnormal conditions. They procure medical assistance when necessary and execute emergency measures. Midwifes participate in teaching lower cadre staff, students, mothers and caretakers. They conduct research in health and health-related areas and carry out administrative roles.
