As Uganda’s economy continues to grow it needs a skilled labor force. The largest proportions of the skills that are required are vocational; Uganda needs capable, competent and committed chefs, cooks, caterers, waitresses, housekeepers, front office associates to handle technical and operational transactions to the hospitality and tourism industry.
The diploma in catering and hotel management should fill this gap appropriately. The program will include food preparation and service, housekeeping services, guest reception, guest booking, record keeping, hygiene management, service marketing, guest information and customer care all of which are necessary to equip the students with knowledge skills required in this fastest growing and competitive hospitality and tourism industry. The hotel and tourism industry is one of the dynamic and fastest growing globally which directly produces both tangible and intangible products. The Uganda diploma in catering and hotel management will boost the human resource capacity hence empowering the required competent and committed man power which will contribute to the provision of high quality services in the hotel & tourism industry.
It will further promote the growth of the sector by contributing to economic, social and structural transformation of the economy in terms of GDP & attract more tourists and foreign earnings to the country.
