The Obama campaign perhaps took this slogan to another level. There was a sense of invincibility during that time that seemed to catch the world like a sweet disease. The people ranted behind this African American from Kenya to be specific. He like a strong wind out of nowhere swept across the masses with his calm rhetoric and articulated speech like a Shakespeare reborn. His word resonated in our ears like the song you have always wanted to hear one that throws you to the dance floor. Soon because `YES HE COULD` Obama became the first black American president.

Why rant about countries so far off as if we have nothing to learn from our very own. Deborah Mutesi has been the gem of this year inspiring Disney, Hollywood and the world at large. Not to forget our very our Uganda bred Lupita nyong`o. Now you may say that we run along those who have made it. I agree. Dare to make it, you will be certainly proved right. And this is where I must start off with an important note; desire.

There are certainly no subjects one needs to master to become a chess player or a president. There is however a desire without which such levels of brilliance and celebration cannot be separated from. Mutesi`s infectious smile is a testament to the desire she has for the game. As such, she has risen through the ranks to become one of the very best. Remember, `falling in love` with something at school! There is no substitute to what is most important. How much do you want to attain that thing? How much are you willing to go. It is noted that Mutesi focuses on her game as if her life depended on it. (Crothers) and that there is what makes people exceptional. Desire.

They say, that success is contagious. In a tale of a little town in France, the people danced themselves to death. The reason was simple. One person begun to dance, and another followed and another. Before long, the whole town was dancing. Many died from heart attacks whereas others survived.

Why the dance? Persistence is the other thing you need to do if you must make it. The dreams we often choose to pursue often make us the minority. This means that we find ourselves marginalised by the rest. Too often, we are even marginalised. The good news is, that if you only continue dancing, the rest of the world will join you. Therefore persist.

In case you have all these and wondering what the remaining ingredients are, stay put. Discipline is certainly one of them. The person who wants to become something so much will discipline himself to its variables. For example, the man who wants to become an Olympic winner will exercise their body, the same way the one who wants to be a fountain of wisdom will focus on reading. Discipline allows you to prepare and organise your body to achieve that which you so much desire.

Lastly, in case no one has told you before, you are able. So Believe that you can make it. `yes you can`. There is nothing in this world that can stop you from being or becoming who you want to be. For those who are bible readers, it is said in this great book, `all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord` and `nothing is impossible for he who believes. From a book I love by Paul Coelho, `the alchemist`, he says, `when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.
