Nicole Foundation has partnered with The Innovation Village through the Future Lab Studio to organize a Road Safety Hackathon.
The objective of the Hackathon is to identify market-ready scalable tech-enabled solutions to enhance safety on the road around the specific components of the Foundation’s 8 Wheels of Offerings, particularly:
1. Before you travel: Preparing for safe and convenient travel
2. When with family or relatives: Securely getting to the destination with loved ones
3. When you are a passenger: Actively and safely participating in the journey
4. When an accident happens: Taking life-saving action when something goes wrong
The 2-day hackathon running April 8 – 9 will bring together diverse teams of Technical/ Developer, Business/ Generalist and Subject Matter Expert talent to envisage practical tech-enabled solutions to Road Safety.
The winning solutions will be selected by a panel of esteemed judges based on the criteria of:
How strongly aligned the proposed innovation is to the Foundation’s 8 Wheels, more so, the 4 key themes of the Hackathon
The uniqueness of the proposed solution as measured by the novel use of technology and overall approach
A demonstrated pathway to a Minimum Viable Product within 6 months or less
Demonstrating a reasonable pathway to scaling the solution across initial and follow-on markets
The quality and comprehensiveness of the pitch
The Hackathon will bring together multidisciplinary builders to envisage and develop tech-enabled Road Safety interventions.
Builders will work in teams of up to 5, working across the 2 days to make as much progress on their proposed solutions as possible. The Hackathon will be supplemented by Fireside Chats, Coaching Sessions, and opportunities to engage Subject Matter Experts. Teams will also attend workshops on a range of enabling topics such as Design Thinking, Business Model Innovation and Product Development, among others, aimed at equipping the teams with the skills and insights to develop market-relevant solutions. The Hackathon will culminate in a Pitch Session where the Judges will select the winning concepts.
The winning teams will join the next Cohort of Future Lab Studio’s flagship Incubation program, helping further refine the concept in preparation for the opportunity to pitch to Angel and Venture Capital investors to secure funding for scale.
A detailed schedule of activities will be shared with the selected builders.
