About

The Uganda Wildlife Training Institute (UWTI) traces its origin from 1991 under Ministry of Tourism, wildlife and Heritage. In 1996, the government of Uganda (GoU) formally established Uganda Wildlife Training Institute as an autonomous Institute by Act of Parliament under Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) to service Uganda wildlife authority (UWA) as the main target of its products. In an effort to streamline and rationalize the functions of departmental Institutions, the 1998 re-structuring report of government ministries and departments recommended a harmonization and rationalization of the training functions and subsequently the transfer of departmental training institutions to ministry of education and sports (MOES).

Uganda Wildlife Training Institute (UWTI) is a government aided institute under Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA), aiming at training and producing human resource or graduates with positive attitudes to deliver quality services in Wildlife and Allied Natural Resource Management for sustainable socio-economic development.
