The Relevance (Why the course is being taught)

Automotive Mechanics course is aimed at producing Automotive Mechanics who are relevant to the industry and world of work. It is trainee-centered and practical-based. It emphasizes acquisition of skills by the trainees, through practical learning and execution of real life projects.

The course implemented at Ntinda VTI, produces automotive mechanics capable of the following:

  1. Fabricate components and machine parts
  2. Maintain engines to good working condition
  3. Maintain the transmission and suspension systems of a vehicle
  4. Install, repair and maintain the electrical/electronic systems in a vehicle
  5. Prepare reports, budgets, and operation plans
  6. Promote and ensure the safety of workers and plant
  7. Initiate and manage small Business Enterprises

The Course emphasizes the following aspects of learning:

  1. Competence-Based Training Approach
  2. Real Life Practical Assignments with supporting modules
  3. Integrated Education (knowledge, skills and positive attitude)
  4. Innovation and Initiative (learning to solve problems that one has never encountered)
