The Relevance (Why the course is being taught)

Health Informatics is a hybrid course that links management, computer information technologies and medicine. It deals with resources, devices, and methods required to optimize the acquisition, storage, retrieval and use of information in health and medicine. The course impacts both health and ICT knowledge to enable learners understand both fields to identify gaps in the health sector that can be solved with ICT.

A Health Informatician, may be employed in any healthcare organization that uses health systems & handles health data as: Health information specialist/Analyst, Health System Managers/Administrators, data analyst, IT coordinator, EHR privacy and security coordinator. Health Informaticians may also work as Occupational Health Officers, e-health officers, Enterprise architects, solutions architects, Chief Information Officers (CIOs), Knowledge Management Officers etc.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

S6 Direct Entrants, must have at least two (2) principal passes in any of the following subjects; Subsidiary Information Technology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology.
Mature Age Entry Examinations Certificate in Health Sciences
Diploma in a relevant Health Discipline, Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Records & Information Management, Mathematics or statistics.
INTAKES: August & March

Course Entry Requirements

A’level with 2principle passes in either Physics,MTC or ICT. Mature Age entry entry examinations certificate in Health sciences, Diploma in any Health related field, ICT, Mathematics, Statistics, Health Records and Information Science.
