Uganda Technical college - Kyema is a tertiary Institute of learning which offers both Certificate and Diploma courses in Engineering. It is under the Ministry of Education and Sports headed by the Deparrtment of Business Technical and Vocational Educational Training (BTVET). The college was founded in 1948 to offer technical training to World War II veterans. It therfore started admitting primary leavers as a Technical school.

In 1972, it upgraded to a technical Institute admitting secondary school leavers 'O' levels to pursue craft certificate courses.

In October 1984 it was upgraded to a technical college admitting secondary school leavers who have completed advanced level of education.
